Sanpei-jiru

Sanpei-jiru is a nutritious miso soup of salmon and plenty of root vegetables.
Ingredients (4 servings)
Salmon filet | 120 g |
---|---|
Daikon radish | 4 cm |
Carrot | 1/2 |
Konjac (Devil’s tongue) | 1/4 cake |
Ichimi-togarashi (Cayenne pepper powder) | A pinch |
Dashi stock | 800 cc |
Miso | 3-1/2 tablespoons |
Directions
- Cut the salmon filet into proper sizes and the daikon radish and carrot into small lumps. Boil the konjac in water to remove harshness and tear into pieces with a spoon.
- Boil the ingredients of 1 in the dashi stock.
- After the ingredients are cooked, lower the heat and dissolve the miso. Serve the miso soup in bowls with the ichimi-togarashi sprinkled to taste.

Sanpei-jiru is a local dish of Hokkaido and has been eaten for about 200 years.
